Now I'm not saying people shouldn't have a right to do faith healing. Go for it it's your right even if there is proof it doesn't work. I am saying that when it involves a child your right to not treat them is nonexistent. And you shouldn't be surprised when you go to jail for not taking them to a doctor. Herbert and Catherine Schaible are a prime example of this . . . actually two examples really.
Herbert and Catherine Schaible were members of First Century Gospel Church. -More on this church in the links below.- A church that strongly believe in faith healing due to verse Mathew 4:24 (and others) and a church that some ex-members call a cult. The couple in 2010 was sentenced to ten years of probation due to involuntary manslaughter. Because they wouldn't get their two year old son medical treatment. Recently they are once again another child has died. Their eight month old child passed. Once again because they would not seek medical help. The also have seven other children whom they thankfully no longer have custody of. But these people aren't the only parents to use prayer rather then medicine. Jeff and Marci Beagley were sentenced to 16 months for using oils and prayer for their son, Neil, who died of a preventable urinary tract blockage. -Jeff and Marci were not members of First Century Gospel Church.-
When you as a parent impose the belief of prayer over medicine you take away their right to be safe and healthy. That's why jail time and charges are filed. It's unfair to the kids. If you want to do it as an adult go for it. Have at it it's your right. If you do not allow medical treatment for the children due to religious beliefs why wouldn't Jesus or god forgive you? Get well then request forgiveness. I don't know but that sounds like an okay plan to me. Anyway the whole thing is simply wrong.
