A young boy going by the name C.C. was bullied by his teacher - Rita Roark- for not believing in God. The boy is a Buddhist. How the teacher learn of his faith was due to the majorly religious atmosphere. Which flowed over into exams. On one occasion, the final question of an exam required students to fill in the blank to this question:
“ISN’T IT AMAZING WHAT THE _____________ HAS MADE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Not knowing how to answer C.C. left the question blank. Roark then scolded him for not knowing the answer. C.C.s sister who's also in Roarks class explained that he doesn't believe in God because he is a Buddhist. One student responded with "You're stupid if you don't believe in God" which Roark nodded in agreement with.
It's bad enough that this "science" class is teaching creation but then bulling a student who disagrees takes everything to an even more sick level. Yet the bulling gets worse C.C. spoke to his mother about the situation and she told him that maybe he should write in "Buddha" next time asked. Later on the next exam he wrote in "Lord Buddha" when returned there was a large red question mark next to it. Once again a student proclaimed "people are stupid if they think God is not real." Roark agreed, responding, “Yes! That is right! I had a student miss that on his test.” The students, who were present when Roark had previously scolded C.C. for failing to write “Lord” as the correct answer, began laughing.
When C.C.s parents learned of this they contacted the school board. They spoke to superintendent Ebard and explained the situation. In response Ebard stated that "they were in the Bible Belt" should simply accept the push of Christianity in Sabine Parish public schools.
Ebarb defended Roark specifically, declaring that “[t]eachers have religious
freedom.” She further stated that “if they were in a different country,” Plaintiffs would see “that
country’s religion everywhere,” and that, therefore, they “shouldn’t be offended” to “see God
here.” Purporting to illustrate her point further, she noted that, because she did not find it
offensive that “the lady who cuts [her] toenails has a statue of Buddha,” Plaintiffs should not be
bothered by Roark’s in-class proselytization. She then wondered whether C.C. “has to be raised
Buddhist” and even asked whether he could “change” his faith The Lanes were floored by
Ebarb’s implication that C.C. should change his faith to fit in.
40. In the end, the only recourse Ebarb offered Plaintiffs was to transfer C.C. to a
different school 25 miles away where, in her words, “there are more Asians.” She did not,
however, offer to provide school bus transportation or, alternatively, funds to cover Plaintiffs’
private expense of transporting C.C. to the new school.
Roarks hurt doesn't even stop there. She continues to push that evolution is false and that the earth is only 6,000 years old despite evidence to the contrary. And the fact that in a class room setting it is illegal to do so since that is pushing a religion. She'll also add additional 5 points to students who fill in lord to the "Isn't it great what the ___ has made!" "question" or to write a Bible verse instead (I recommend writing in Ezekial 23:20 "There she lusted after her lovers, whose genitals were like those of donkeys and whose emission was like that of horses." That should earn you ten points! Especially is you add an illustration with it.) The ignorance of this Science and social studies "teacher" and pathetic superintendent is sad to say the least. This is who we have teaching the next generation and they're making sure that they are racist, bigoted, Christians. Hopefully soon this school wont be existent in its current state soon. Hopefully they decide to higher adequate people to educate and not hate.
